Mildred Andrews Young, pianist
Mildred Andrews Young is an alumna of the University of Michigan and did graduate work with Lee Pattison in California. In addition to raising three children, she was a church organist and a pianist for the Beverly Hills, California School System. For two years the family lived in Anchorage, Alaska, where she played for a chorus conducted by Robert Shaw. From 1968 to 1988 she lived in Austria where she was a coach at the Linz Opera House and the pianist for a chorus established in 1845. During these years she toured with choruses throughout Europe and parts of Asia--and built harpsichords in her spare time! Since 1989 Millie has lived in Toano, Virginia and is staff pianist for rehearsals and many performances of the Williamsburg Choral Guild.
